Blackberry Lavender Jam
This Blackberry Lavender Jam elevates the taste of tart, juicy blackberries with just a touch of fragrant lavender to bring out the floral notes of the berries. Perfect spread onto toast, swirled into yogurt or ice cream, or used in desserts like my Blackberry Lavender Cake, this simple jam recipe is a favorite at my house.
Blackberry Lavender Jam
Makes 2 cups jam
Ingredients:
3 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
4 tsp dried lavender
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 cup sugar
½ cup water
To make:
Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Mash the berries with a wooden spoon, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook for 20 minutes. See note*
Once cool, strain through a mesh sieve to remove the seeds and lavender. Store the jam in a jar in the fridge until ready to use.
** Note: Blackberries are naturally high in pectin, so you likely won’t need to add any ingredients to thicken the jam. However, if the mixture is still runny after cooking for the full 20 minutes, whisk together a tablespoon of cornstarch and a tablespoon of water in a small bowl to create a cornstarch slurry, then mix it into the jam to thicken.
