Enchanted Evening Tea Blend

Jump to Recipe

This Enchanted Evening Tea Blend is the perfect magical mocktail or tea recipe for a Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed party or fairy dinner party. Aside from being most gorgeous shade of deep purple, it’s light and refreshing and can be served either hot or cold.

Although I love the color of butterfly pea flowers, I personally don’t love the taste on its own—but because the flavor is so mild, they’re perfect for blending with other herbs. Because this is a dreamy evening tea party, I used lavender for this recipe, and it was perfect—the light, subtly floral taste of this drink went so well with everything that I served at the tea party.

If you’d like to turn this into a cocktail, you can use a shot of Empress 1908 gin (a vibrant blue gin made with butterfly pea flowers) instead of the iced tea mixture and top with a squeeze of lemon and some sparkling water.

Enchanted Evening Tea Blend

Makes 6-8 servings

Ingredients:

For the tea:

  • ¼ cup dried butterfly pea flowers

  • 1 tsp dried lavender

  • 4 cups boiling water

  • Sugar or honey to taste (if desired)

For the sparkling iced tea option (if desired):

  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • Sparkling water

  • Blackberries and edible flowers for garnish

To make:

  1. To a large jar or teapot with a tea strainer, add the butterfly pea flowers and dried lavender. Add boiling water and steep for 10 minutes, then remove the herbs. If you’d like to sweeten your tea, add a bit of sugar or honey to taste.

  2. Enjoy right away, or if you’d like to turn this recipe into sparkling iced tea, seal the jar and let the tea chill in the refrigerator overnight.

  3. When ready to serve, fill a pitcher with ice and add the tea. Add 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice and stir to watch the color transform from blue to purple.

  4. Fill a glass with ice and add half of the tea mixture. Top with sparkling water and garnish with blackberries and edible flowers. Enjoy!
