Rose Hot Chocolate

Jump to Recipe

Rose and chocolate is one of my favorite unexpected flavor combinations. This comforting, dreamy, romantic Rose Hot Chocolate has become my go-to pick-me-up when I’m feeling down (it’s wonderful for counteracting the winter blues!).

Rose is often used in herbalism for its antidepressant and sedative properties. It’s comforting and uplifting at the same time. Cacao is also known for its mood-boosting and energizing properties.

Together, this magical duo works to comfort and uplift, all while tasting AMAZING. If you don’t have cacao powder at home, no worries—pure cocoa powder will work just fine, too!

Aside from its delicious, comforting flavor, this recipe is also SO easy to make. Simply combine all ingredients in a saucepan over low heat, whisking continuously to froth, then pour and enjoy!!

Rose Hot Chocolate

Makes 1 (6 oz) serving

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz oat milk

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder

  • 1 tsp maple syrup (feel free to add more if you like your hot chocolate on the sweeter side!)

  • 1 tsp dried food-grade rose petals

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt or sea salt

To make:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to a gentle simmer over low heat, whisking continuously until the cacao powder is completely dissolved.

  2. Turn off the heat and let sit for 5-7 minutes to let the rose flavor infuse.

  3. Whisk again, then strain into a cup and enjoy right away.
