Citrus Gin and Tonic

Jump to Recipe

This Citrus Gin and Tonic recipe is near and dear to my heart. Alex and I spent part of our summer in Colorado last year, visiting one of my closest friends, Mary. Mary and I are like sisters—we’ve been friends since we were kids, and even though we live far apart today, I’ll always consider her one of my closest, lifelong friends.

While staying at her house, Mary and I dreamed up this recipe together. It’s super easy, fun to make, and perfect for any celebration.

Grapefruit, orange, lemon, and lime blend seamlessly with the gin to create a bright, refreshing, uplifting drink that’s great any time of year.

Whenever I make it, I think of her. It reminds me of ordering takeout, reading by the bonfire in her yard, laughing so much it’s hard to breathe.

I wanted to share it with you now before citrus season officially ends, but this drink is honestly delicious year-round. I hope this festive recipe inspires you to celebrate with the people you love, too.

  • 1 large navel orange, thinly sliced

  • 2 lemons, thinly sliced

  • 3 limes, thinly sliced

  • 8 oz gin (1 part) **

  • 24 oz chilled tonic water (3 parts) **

To make:

  1. Layer the sliced fruit into a small pitcher.

  2. Pour the gin and tonic (or kombucha—see note below**) over the fruit and stir well.
