Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

While this recipe makes a rich hot chocolate with a classic pumpkin spice flavor, please feel free to adjust the spices to your liking.
Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
Makes 1 cup
Ingredients:
1 tbsp cacao
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of salt
1 cup milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based)
3 tbsp pumpkin purée
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsp maple syrup
Toppings such as marshmallows, whipped cream, cinnamon, chocolate shavings, optional
To make:
Make the spice blend. In a small bowl, mix together the cacao, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, and salt until completely combined.
In a small saucepan, bring the milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla, and maple syrup to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Add the spice blend, whisking continuously for 1-2 minutes until completely combined.
Pour into a mug and top with marshmallows, whipped cream, cinnamon, and chocolate shavings if desired. Enjoy!
