Tropical Mango and Orange Smoothie Bowls

While it seems completely counterintuitive, I always find myself craving giant smoothies in the middle of the winter. There’s something about a refreshing blend of vibrant, nutrient-packed fruit that sounds so appealing this time of year.

Since we’re in the middle of peak citrus season where I live, I wanted to make a smoothie bowl with lots of sweet, juicy oranges, so I blended up these beautiful Tropical Mango and Orange Smoothie Bowls. A bright, tropical combination of oranges, mangoes, and pineapple, combined with anti-inflammatory cinnamon and turmeric, makes these smoothie bowls one of my favorite winter smoothie recipes.

Tropical Mango and Orange Smoothie Bowls

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

For the smoothie bowl:

2 bananas, frozen

1 1/2 cups mango, frozen

1 large orange, peeled

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp raw honey

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Sprinkle of turmeric

Splash of coconut or nut milk

For the toppings:

1 banana, thinly sliced

1 small orange, peeled and sliced

Pineapple chunks

Coconut flakes

Pepitas

To make:

  1. In a blender, combine the bananas, mango, orange, vanilla, honey, cinnamon, turmeric, and almond milk. Blend on high until smooth, adding a little more coconut milk if needed to reach a thick, ice-cream like consistency (make sure to only add a small amount of liquid—otherwise the smoothie base will become too runny).

  2. Once smooth, pour the smoothie base into a bowl. Top with banana slices, orange slices, pineapple chunks, coconut flakes, and pepitas. Enjoy!
