Vampire Gin Sour
This beautiful blood-red cocktail is a perfect balance of tart, sweet, and botanical. A homemade raspberry simple syrup adds sweetness, while fresh blood orange and pomegranate juices add bright, citrusy depth. Shaken with gin and finished with a blood orange slice and rosemary sprig, it’s the ideal drink for spooky season.
Vampire Gin Sour
Ingredients:
For the simple syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup frozen raspberries
For the cocktail:
2 oz gin
1/2 oz fresh blood orange juice
3/4 oz raspberry simple syrup
1 ½ oz fresh pomegranate juice
Blood orange slice and rosemary sprig for garnish
To make:
In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and frozen raspberries. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, mashing with a spoon. Turn off the heat and let cool, then strain through a mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
To a shaker with ice, add the gin, orange juice, simple syrup, and pomegranate juice. Shake well, then strain into a glass and garnish with the blood orange slice and rosemary.
