Skin Soothing Herbal Autumn Bath Salts

As the days following Samhain grow darker and colder, I turn to calming indoor rituals to bring light and newness on days that feel dark and stagnant. These skin soothing, nourishing Autumn Bath Salts are the perfect self care ritual for late autumn evenings.
Made with a blend of nourishing botanicals, epsom salts, and pink Himalayan salt, these Autumn Bath Salts help to soothe dry skin and calm other irritations common this time of year as the air becomes colder and drier.
Many of the herbal ingredients used in this recipe offer a warming energy and promote circulation in the body, perfect for the colder months. And lastly, these autumn bath salts also provide wonderful aromatherapy benefits for calming and relaxation.
What are the herbal benefits of the ingredients?
jojoba oil - gently soothes dry skin while nourishing and hydrating
cinnamon essential oil - reduces skin irritation, promotes blood flow, moisturizes skin
clove essential oil - calms itchy and irritated skin
patchouli essential oil - relieves dryness and irritation, promotes circulation
epsom salts - rich in magnesium, promote sleep and relaxation
pink Himalayan salt - contains anti-inflammatory and skin nourishing properties
baking soda - soothes skin irritations and sore muscles, promotes healthy circulation
calendula - reduces skin irritation, helps calm sensitive skin, promotes hydration
chamomile - soothes sensitive skin, reduced redness, contains anti-inflammatory properties
rosemary - contains aromatherapeutic properties that relieve stress and anxiety, reduces inflammation, offers antimicrobial properties to help heal skin
This recipe makes about 4 cups of bath salts. You can store these bath salts in a jar to keep or give away. One of my favorite ways to use them is in a bath tea - see my blog post on how to make bath tea!

Skin Soothing Herbal Autumn Bath Salts for Dry, Irritated Skin
Makes about 4 cups of bath salts
Ingredients:
For the oil:
1 tbsp jojoba oil
2 drops cinnamon essential oil
2 drops clove essential oil
2 drops patchouli essential oil
For the dry ingredients:
3 cups epsom salt
1 cup course pink Himalayan salt
1/4 cup baking soda
1 cup dried calendula
1/2 cup dried chamomile
1/4 cup dried rosemary
To make:
In a small bowl or jar, combine the jojoba oil with the cinnamon, clove, and patchouli essential oils. Mix well to combine.
To a large bowl, add the epsom salt, pink Himalayan salt, and baking soda. Mix well, then stir in the oil blend until completely combined. Add the calendula, chamomile, and rosemary and mix well.
Store in jars or turn into bath teas. Store in a cool, dry place. Enjoy!!
